We Are Dedicated to Your Dental Health
Because our focus is on your long-term dental health, we will give you a thorough dental examination to detect any underlying issues. A dental exam, also known as a dental check-up is a routine assessment performed by one of our dentists or hygienists to evaluate the overall health of your teeth, gums, and oral cavity. It typically involves several steps and procedures to ensure your oral health is maintained.
We will first review your medical history, including any existing medical conditions, medications you're taking, and any allergies or past dental treatments. This information helps our team understand your overall health and any potential implications for your oral care.
In some cases, dental X-rays may be taken to provide a more comprehensive view of your oral structures, including areas not visible during a visual examination. X-rays help in detecting issues such as cavities, bone loss, impacted teeth, and other dental conditions.
We will then do an oral examination, visually examining your mouth, including your teeth, gums, tongue, cheeks, and the roof of your mouth. The condition of your gums is a crucial aspect of your dental exam. We will check for signs of gum disease, including redness, swelling, bleeding, and gum recession.
An oral cancer screening will be often performed during your dental exam. We will examine the soft tissues of your mouth, including the tongue, cheeks, and throat, looking for any suspicious lumps, sores, or discolorations.
We will check for any issues related to teeth alignment, jaw pain, or teeth grinding (bruxism).
If deemed necessary, we will perform a dental cleaning during your exam. This involves removing plaque and tartar buildup from your teeth using specialized instruments. We will also floss and polish your teeth for a smooth, clean finish.
Treatment Planning
After your examination and dental cleaning, our team will discuss our findings with you. We will provide recommendations for any necessary treatments, preventive measures, or changes in oral hygiene practices. This is an opportunity to ask questions or address any concerns you may have about your oral health.
